So I've been a very bad blogger!!! My kids keep me so busy during the day and by the time they go to bed, I'm soooo tired I fall asleep. I need to find an easier way to blog. I will start off by saying that my training has been going really good. Jackie and I have been sticking to our schedule and getting our runs done. Last Friday we were doing a 5 mile recovery run we were on mile 2.5 when I tripped and fell right of my right knee, it was so painful all I could think of was that my training was going to be placed on hold, we were having a good run, talking next thing I know I'm on the floor holding on to my knee and wondering what I was going to do. Thankfully after holding on to it for a while, I stretched it out and realized I was going to be ok, 2 ladies from a nearby salon helped me out and gave me some band-aids and cortizone cream. We decided I should shake it off and finish our last 2.5 miles, I did it no problem.
Now I have a huge scab on my knee and I'm hoping it doesn't scar!!! But I am grateful that it was just bruised and not broken. The next day Saturday I was able to get up at 6AM and go fo a 12 mile run with our running team The Redlands Runegades, Knee was not a problem at all and I had a good run, at mile number 8 nature called and that turned out to be ok to since we were right by a park and was able to use a toilet this time around : ) I'm going to have to do something about that problem I swear everytime we run our long runs it get my metabolism going and I have to go right there and if theres no restroom in sight it becomes a problem. This coming Saturday we have a 13 mile run so I'm going to buy me some Immodium AD and take it before my run I'm hoping it will help the only concern I have is that it will cause constipation after. I guess it's a risk I'm willing to take, I hate having to panick on our long runs!! What's a runner to do? Wear Diaper!? Lol!! Yes I would!!! hehe!! J/k
So my life is pretty much consumed with my kids and my running that I haven't taken care of my self as far as looks go. Everyday is a different running outfit and tennis shoes with hair pulled up on a ponytail. All my wonderful, almost brand new jeans no longer fit, I haven't really lost any weight but I have toned up and slimed down BIG TIME!! what am I supposed to do, I had some jeans altered and taken in but they still don't fit right. I could go out and buy some jeans but I'm finding it very hard to go out and buy some, I just don't want to spend money on buying clothes but what am I going to do wear my running clothes everyday, I have been for the past 5 months. Today I went and got a much needed hair cut and some color, then I got my eyebrows waxed, that was a big step and I already feel better. Now all I need is a cute outfit!! Maybe a new running outfit : )
I'm super excited that I am putting together a running team for my kids elementary school, I'm having the kids sign up for an upcoming 5k on April 18. Jackie will be helping me with the kids so we get to play coach for the day. Yay!!! I can't wait to see how many kids I get.
My running groun The Redlands Runegades!!! When we first started running with this group I was always in the back trying to keep up, this last Saturday I was in the lead!!! I'm amazed at what Good Runners Jackie and I are becoming, and were going to get better!!!

Sunday Morning Long Run
So we were supposed to start at 6 AM but I got a msg from Jackie at about 5:30 Letting me know that she had just gotten home. (she partied all night)Jackie and her hubby were at her in laws house watching the fight and they decided to stay after her hubby having a few drinks and she was to tired to drive. We ended up starting our run at 7AM not bad considering the time change so we were really starting at 6. The first mile was very hard for me I had way to much to eat at the birthday party and I can't believe I'm going to blog about this but I am!! Sure enough the food kicked in and I had to go right away, there was no bathrooms in sight I panicked and went in an empty field trust me I had to or it would have been a lot worse. What a relieve you have no Idea how good it felt, I felt dirty but relieved. We got started with our run again and we stopped at a Mcdonald's so I can freshen up : ) We finally were able to get started and got into the flow we decided not to take any stretch breaks and just run without stopping. I was amazed that I was able to go for 8-9 miles non stop but we did it we even had our water and carbooms while running mile # 9. As soon as we finished Jackie brought me home and It was straight to the shower and then it was a delicious breakfast that included Pancakes, Bacon and eggs. That's the good thing about running even though I watch what I eat I can pretty much eat whatever I want and not worry about gaining any weight. So if any of you wants to loose a few LBS take on running and you wont regret it. After breakfast it was all about cleaning. Then some movies I finally watched Twilight and I was hooked I can't wait to watch the next one. For dinner I had a Costco pizza in the fridge and dinner was made and enjoyed. I was to tired to think about making a big dinner, and besides the kids enjoyed the pizza. After dinner I was off to bed I was to tired to even watch TV.
Saturday Race Day
Saturday Morning was good, it all started with a pre race breakfast of oat meal with some wheat germ.
As soon as Jackie and Adriane dropped my mom off and my niece and 2 nephews off at my place we were off to our race. I love race days it gets my adrenaline going and it feels good. We started with a 1 mile warm up before the race started as soon as we got done with our warm up we rushed to the porta potty's but the lines were tooooo long and they only had 3 potty's that was no good the race was about to begin and we wanted to get back to the start line, we were desperate looking around wondering if we can sneak behind a bush but there was to many people around, we ended up going into the Hospitals lobby and sure enough they were letting us use their bathrooms. Jackie and I made it to the start line right on time!!!! We were treating this run as a tempo run. I was behind Jackie the whole time I was able to see her in front of me up until the lase 1/2 mile when a hill got me as soon as cleared the hill I knew I was almost done as soon as I turned the corner I decided I wanted to finish strong and sprinted towards the finish line and finished in 24'44" I knew that was a new PR for me, I was excited.
Our Post Race Picture
Jackie also set a PR for this race she finished in 23'46" that is amazing we were so happy at our new PR's, we were pretty confident that we placed in our age group. We hung around for a bit and had a few post race snacks a banana and yogurt for me, as soon as we were done we ran a 1 mile cool down. When we were done we joined Jackie's hubby and waited for our results we wanted to get free massages but the line wait was to long and we were anoyed by two guys behind us so we left. Right after that the award ceremony's began and sure enough Jackie place 2nd in her age group and I Placed 1st yes 1st place in my age group. Yay!!! we were so excited not only did we reach PR for ourselves we also place. I looked up my race results for a 5k 2 yrs ago and my time improved by over 10 mins. I was so happy!!
After the post race festivities I was off to my place and my monkeys, they were so happy their mommy placed 1st place. I got them ready and we went to In-N-Out to celebrate.
We then got ready and headed out to my cousins house to celebrate her sons birth day, It was a beautiful party but it was to damn cold all I could think of was coming home and crawling into my warm bed, we left as soon as the pinata and cake were done. We got home put on our comfy PJ's and it was off to bed. We had an early long run planned for Sunday. : )

My Friday!!!
Jackie invited me to a morning run with a friend Bobbi. I was scared to run with Bobbi the girl is an amazing runner, but I didn't want to pass up the opportunity on meeting her. I have been following her blog nhershoes.com and I love her dedication to healthy eating and running. This was Bobbi's Tempo run, Jackie and I had a race Saturday that we were going to treat as a tempo run so I decided to not push myself and just do my best. We ran our 1 mile warm up, then 3 miles hard (I stayed behind and ran at my own pace) then we ran 1 mile cool down. It was a good run, it's always nice to meet runners and find our what their all about.
After our run Jackie and I treated ourselves to Panera Bakery, we skipped the pastrys and ordered breakfast sandwiches and they were Delicious!!!
After breakfast I had to rush and get to an important appointment I had in Glendora and those who know me know that I always have to leave early if I will be driving on the Fwy. After my appt. my older sister and I stopped at our favorite place King Taco to take home, we can't go out to that area and not pick up King Taco. Unfortunately we caught the Friday traffic and I had to ask Jackie to pick up my Monkeys at school since we weren't going to be back on time. Thankfully Jackie was available. My other option was my lil sister and I'm so glad I didn't have to go there. I don't have the best relationship with her so I just choose not to have one at all!!! The kids really enjoyed their time with Jackie, she took them to Cold Stone to get some Ice Cream!! Thanks Jackie
Later in the afternoon my daughter's friend came over, and I took them around the neighborhood to sell girl scout cookies. We had our King Taco for dinner then we took BFF home and we stopped by my parents for a bit. By the time we got home it was 9:30 and I had to go to bed for our morning Race. Yes Friday night and Im in bed before 10 o'clock, I live a very exciting live!! I know it!!

Tuesday and Wednesday's Run
So we decided to make Monday our rest day...after Sunday's long run both Jackie and I were feeling Lazy!!!! So we deserved a day off!!! Oh I forgot I went to my gym and worked on my arms, I want to work on my arms at least 2-3 times a week.
Tuesday afternoon we were back to running, we were both still feeling a bit sore!!! My ankle's were a bit stiff and sore. The first mile was tough, it felt like my ankle was getting stiffer so at 1.5 miles we stopped and did a stretch. I LOVE Stretching!!!! It always feels good specially when I'm feeling tight!!!
This morning Jackie called me at 5AM to let me know she was on her way, she was going to swing by my moms and then they would be on their way. We had a bit of some confusion going on with my sitter arrangements. I always make a plan B in case Plan A goes wrong. As a single mom you always need a plan B : ) So the confusion was I called Plan A to confirm they were on their way so when they didn't answer I assumed they were still sleeping, so I called Plan B unfortunately Plan A was already on their way so when I found out I had to call back Plan B to apologize for waking her up early for nothing. (Yes I know as a single mom I make things a bit complicated!!) So when the confusion was cleared up Jackie and I got our run started. It was a cold run when we first got started....But after a mile we were sweating. It always feels good to get a run started first thing in the morning. We were going for 5 miles but ended up only running 4.5 miles, oh well .5 short isn't to bad. We will make it up on Saturday.
When I got home from our run, my kids were already showered, dressed and fed. It's so nice to have kids that are early birds like their momma. I mean all I have to do for them is get their outfits ready and they do the rest. I don't have to drag them out of bed, my son is always the first one up and ready to go. We never have Chaos in the morning!!!
It was so nice to get our run out of the way early this morning.
It was nice to get my day started that way.
Later this afternoon homework was out of the way, we made Lemon pepper chicken, with some rice and mashed potatoes oh and a side salad. The kids watched "where the wild thing are" and I watched "2012" that was a good movie, the kind of movie that gets you thinking. We are 2 years away, is it really going to happen??? Are the Mayans right about it? I'm scared!!! Ok now I'm off to bed another early morning run. : )

Sunday Morning Long Run
Another early morning!!! No sleeping in for me at all this weekend : ( I had a very busy weekend. Jackie and I got an early start, we were going to start at 6:30 but ended up starting at 7AM. Today was our long run 11 miles, yes 11 miles!!! We are closer to our 1/2 marathon, we can taste it!! We had an amazing run, It was so peaceful, the air was perfect, the smell of the trees was good. We ran in Loma Linda and we enjoyed the beautiful views the city had to offer. More cities need to take after Loma Linda and their healthy living, I was amazed at how many runners were up, out and running, there was runners, walkers and a man on his wheelchair.
After our run we went home got ready and met at Las Brasas restaurant in Loma Linda for some delicious breakfast. Jackie and Adriane treated us to a nice breakfast.. thanks Mr. and Mrs. Lising : ) right after breakfast we headed over across the St. to Loma Linda's Farmers Market to purchase healthy fruits and veggies.
After our moring with the Lising's we headed out to pick up Girl Scout Cookies, So if anyone wants to buy cookies please let me know Madison would really appreciate it. We also picked up Ryan and then headed over to Staters to pick up a nice 12lb turkey. This weather had me craving one, so I decided to go all out and make a dinner turkey. It was delicious!! My mom and dad joined us for dinner, My dad always appreciates a good turkey meal, it's our favorite dinner!!

4mile run with 4 sets of strides after run
This morning started off early, I had to be at a meeting at 9AM I wasn't to happy about getting up early on a Saturday. Didn't even have time for a big breakfast so I had to go with the usual of oatmeal with wheat germ, 1 orange, and green tea.
After the meeting Jackie and I drove over to the Running Store in Redlands we parked there and headed out for our 4 mile run, we were a bit tired for the first mile but once we were done with that first mile we felt much better. We ran 4 miles in 8'35" so that was pretty good, after our 4 miles we did 4sets of strides. Strides are sets of 30 secs fast and 30 seconds easy. After our run we went into the running store and I stocked up on Carbooms Energy Gels and Jackie exchanged her running shoes that she had purchased the night before.
After the running store we picked up my monkeys, Maddy was at my moms house and Christian was at his buddy's Ryan's house. Jackie came home with us to help me organize flyer that will be going out to the schools in Redlands for a fundraiser Craftathon we will be holding on March 15. So if anyone is interested please let me know I will post details. I made us some turkey sandwiches on wheat breat of course and some coffee to help keep us warm. Thanks to Jackie and Maddison we got done pretty quick with the flyers. Yay!!!
For dinner I cheated and picked up a pizza at Papa Johns. Tomorrow I will be cooking a Turkey dinner so I will make it up tomorrow. : ) Now it's time to turn up the heat enjoy the sounds of rain, watch a movie and cuddle with my monkeys. Good night, Early morining run : (

6 Mile Tempo Run/Book Character Parade
So this morning started a bit earlier than usual, the kids were so excited about the book character parade they were up at 4:45. Madison was the first one in the shower, she wanted her hair curled because she was dressing up as Fancy Nancy and Christian was Greg from "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". We had some oatmeal, I added some wheat germ to mine and we headed out the door by 7:15. The Parade got started at 8:30 and it was one of their best, this is one of my favorite activities.
As soon as the parade was over I got started with my 6 mile tempo run, Jackie and I were supposed to run toghether but she ended up spending time with her family. So I got it done and let me tell you the tempeture might be cool but the sun was shinning bright and it killed me, I was supposed to do a 1.5 mile warm up, 3miles under 25 mins, and 1.5 mile cool down. I ended up running my 3 miles in 27' so I went over :( Oh well at least I got my run in and I still finished in 53'07" and was back at Judson by 11. Kids had another minimum day : ( What is it with all this time off!!! Right after school we headed over to the spaghetti factory for some lunch, it was yummy!!!

Easy 5 mile run
So I made it up to my kids last night for the easy mac and cheese dinner Tuesday. I made home made Fried Chicken, It was yummy!!!! Shortly after eating dinner I got a call from Jackie saying she got off work a bit early so we can get started with our 5 mile run a bit earlier. I was happy because we've been getting started a bit late. I was tired from our run Tuesday and didn't help that I had a fried chicken meal right before. We ran our 5 miles at about 9'50" pace, not too bad considering all the training were doing and let me tell you this week has been so much easier compared to last week. When we got done with our run we went back to Jackie's and her sweet hubby had a nice fruit platter set up for us on her front porch. It was really nice and soooo good!!! Thanks Jackie and Adriane!!!

Tempo Run
When I got home yesterday afternoon I rushed to do homework with my monkeys made them some dinner mac and cheese with some brocolli. They weren't to happy with dinner but I wanted them fed before going on my run. I met with Jackie and her hubby Adriane, he joined us for our 2 mile warm up, we then did a stretch and did our 2 miles hard, I tried to keep up with Jackie but she took off fast!!!! I finished in 17 mins which was good but it was hard!!! The good thing is that I stayed within my goal, hopefully next week I will improve my time. Jackie ran her 2 miles in 15'52" that is an amazing time, I like running with her because she pushes me. We ended our run with a 2 mile cool down. Once I got home I put my kids to bed and I realized that I still had to eat dinner, I went with a tuna sandwich with avocado and some chips. Later today we have a 5 mile run, we are expecting rain and I'm hoping we can do our run before the rain.
